KNOW THE SELLER
- Check the feedback. Always check the seller's Feedback Score before bidding on an item. You'll find it in the Seller Information box in each auction. Read "feedback comments" to see what other customers had to say about the seller. Look for a seller who has been a member for at least three months and has a reputable positive feedback percentage of at least 96 percent. Usually, fraudsters find it hard to maintain a positive rating for that long.
- Dig deeper. Check the seller's Member Profile or "Learn more about me" to find out more information regarding the seller (Not all sellers provide this info). Contact the seller and send a message if you have any questions or concerns about the item.
- Know your payment options. Determine what method of payment the seller is asking from the buyer and where he/she is asking to send payment. If a problem occurs with the auction transaction, it could be much more difficult if the seller is located in a country other than your own, because of the difference in laws. Check with your bank - some credit cards offer 100 percent guarantees against online fraud. Always keep copies of payment transactions.
