CHARGED DOUBLE ON AN ON-LINE ORDER
I have been victimized by an Internet scam. I cannot believe that it happened to me because I am a very careful person! Well, the good news is that I did not lose a lot of money; the bad news is that these guys continue to cheat; therefore I decided to write about that to alert many trustful buyers. This is my story. I found a great deal on magazine subscriptions on-line. The company does offer people cheap prices on magazines, but I ended up paying for two subscriptions and never received them. I tried to contact this company but got only automatic messages, and then I found out that they never show their contact information on their website (address, phone, email of a real person); they only say that they are from New York. When I tried to find my orders on their website, I could see only one, but when I tried to get my money back, an automatic message said that they couldn't find my orders. However, I checked with my bank and found that they charged me for both orders. I placed my orders on December 7, 2006 and February 8, 2007, they confirmed them, and since then I never heard anything from them. Now I just want to warn people not to get scammed again like I have been scammed by this online website. The company just promises people a good price on subscriptions and then just cheats them out of their money! Now, what have I done about this situation? When I found the company betrayed my trust and hopes, I decided to publish this information at Helium. Also, I sent my complaint to Scamfreezone www.scamfreezone.org/. I have some advice for you based on my experience, too. 1. Be aware of scams! Don’t buy anything that looks too good or cheap to be a true. 2. If you buy something online, check on the seller’s reputation; read all comments and referents about him; try to find out if the company was listed as a scam company online. 3. Look at how the company’s website is organized. Does it look professional? It is very important to know that the company has their contact information, such as a real address, an email of a real person, etc. Be aware, if you notice that the company has only automatic responding address that means when you will contact with them, a real person will not answer you, and you never will get in touch with these people. 4. If you have been victimized by online scam, be active, inform official organizations. Also, share your information with other people by using the net and other channels and try to warn as many people as possible. 5. Beware to buy something from other countries; there is a greater chance that you will be scammed, and it will be more difficult to reach a person from overseas. 6. If you have doubts about purchasing an item from an online company, especially if it is an expensive item, try to contact this company first, for instance, just call them and see how they will answer your questions, their reaction and how you feel about the conversation. Only buy from them if you are satisfied with their responses. Remember, beware of any online scams!
