File Sharing
File Sharing also referred to as Peer-to-Peer Networks, is a series of networks
established to allow the sharing of files and communication without a website. These
networks can expose your computer to worms and viruses. Some worms have been specifically
written to target peer-to-peer networks. These worms and viruses can download your
private information without your knowledge. Peer-to-peer networks also have been
used to share copyrighted music, software, and games without authorization. Children
often are exposed to pornography on peer-to-peer networks when sexual predators
intentionally mislabel the names of files for this purpose.
